PILLAR · BIG FIVE IMPACT

Project management
that delivers Africa

Proudly African for Africa. Big Five Impact is the programme office of the group — orchestrating multi-pillar delivery across the continent so strategy becomes jobs, meals, markets, and measurable results. We work with the Director General of Health to help drive Group products into South Africa’s Department of Health and health pathways across Africa.

INSTITUTIONAL HEALTH CHANNEL

Working with the Director General of Health

Big Five works with the Director General of Health — not as staff of Big Five Impact, but as a strategic institutional relationship — to help drive Group products into South Africa’s Department of Health and counterpart health departments across Africa as programmes mature. Impact coordinates delivery and programme discipline around that channel. Together with the NSNP pathway under Basic Education, this strengthens multi-department credibility in South Africa and supports Group product introduction into public health systems as programmes mature — always with delivery capacity attached.

Framed as a working relationship with the Director General of Health and a Group channel coordinated through Impact — not that the DG is part of Big Five Impact, and not a claim that multi-country Department of Health supply awards are already closed. Request a dated partner brief for diligence.

UN SOFI · How this pillar answers

Challenge: SOFI shows progress is uneven and Africa remains the epicentre of undernourishment. Partners need programme discipline, not slide-deck claims.

Our response: Design multi-pillar programmes with measurable gates; institutional pathways (including health systems) with honest language on working relationships.

CASE STUDY · SCHOOL NUTRITION
2.5 million
children a day (plan)

High-level delivery ambition for daily school nutrition with Big Five Foods fortified porridges and soya minces on the NSNP pathway.

NSNP programme landed — national school nutrition at plan scale

Big Five Foods has landed the National School Nutrition Programme (NSNP) pathway with South Africa’s Department of Basic Education — planned to feed 2.5 million children per day with fortified porridges, soya minces and one-pot meals. That scale is a high-level delivery plan as the programme ramps, not a claim of current daily operational headcount.

NSNP-approved institutional SKUs — Enriched Porridge 5kg, Beef Soya Mince 5kg and One-Pot Chicken Biryani Mix 5kg — plus household and catering ranges designed for school-day feeding at scale. When children eat well, they can learn. NSNP is one of the country’s flagship interventions for learner wellbeing. Landing this programme builds institutional credibility that should open pathways into other government departments locally and, as proof compounds, into public-sector programmes across Africa — with Group delivery capacity attached.

  • NSNP-approved Enriched Porridge 5kg for high-volume school kitchens and feeding schemes
  • NSNP-approved Beef Soya Mince 5kg for protein-forward, cost-efficient daily menus
  • NSNP-approved One-Pot Chicken Biryani Mix 5kg for complete institutional meal formats
  • Shelf-stable 5kg packs that support logistics into schools and institutional stores
  • Ordering and verification pathways via SupplierAdvisor® where programme procurement allows

Impact sits across Agri, Foods, Direct, Access, Connect, Leadership, and Foundation — aligning scope, timeline, budget, and verification so governments, DFIs, and corporates get one accountable partner.

Cross-pillar orchestration

We sequence farming, nutrition, logistics, capital access, and leadership under a single programme plan — not siloed initiatives.

Institutional discipline

Gates, risk registers, RAID logs, stakeholder maps, and reporting cadence built for public-sector and DFI standards.

Department of Health channel

Working with the Director General of Health, we help drive Group products into South Africa’s Department of Health and health pathways in other African countries — coordinated through Impact’s PMO.

Continent-aware delivery

Field reality across active markets — South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, Zambia, DRC, Tanzania, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Germany, and Hungary.

Measurable KPIs

Jobs, meals, hectares, contracts, and community outcomes tracked with evidence — not vanity metrics.

Ethical commerce rails

Where commerce applies, transactions run via SupplierAdvisor® verified profiles with real-time order feedback.
